Week 8 and Strictly Come Dancing returned to the BBC studio and normal service was resumed. Victoria Pendleton and her partner Brendan Cole said goodbye this week which was no surprise. Her dancing of the Salsa was definitely dodgy despite the impressive lifts. She can now go on holiday and recover. Brendan will also need a holiday we feel!
Surprise of the Week: Nicky Byrne and Karen Hauer. Score 9.
Wow! This Charleston dance was a huge surprise and such fun. The outfits in blue and white were really cheeky! Karen’s short, sweet, sparkly dress was a joy as she danced. They deserved their score of 36

Dress of the Week: Denise Van Outen. Score 9.
Denise looked stunning in a simple pleated pink dress with diamante straps. It flowed like poetry during her American Smooth dance with James Jordan. Beautiful girl, beautiful dress, beautiful dance. She will win this competition!

Dance of the Week: Dani Harmer and Vincent Simone. Score 10.
This couple are dynamite and Dani’s yellow fringed dress covered in blue stones and diamante suited the Samba dance to perfection. They are so enjoyable to watch and surely will be in the final!

Mistake of the Week: Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace. Score 7.
What is it about this couple? On paper they should be flying but it’s not happening. Technically the dances look impressive. Louis and Flavia don’t appear to be hitting it off and their lack of chemistry as a couple is transmitting directly into their dances. We are willing them on as he is so capable (and beautiful) and hope that Flavia can get more than technique out of Louis.

Kimberley Walsh and Pasha Kovalev are a nice accomplished couple but don’t excite the Strictly Come Dancing Fashion Police despite their good nature. Her long blue backless dress with floating skirt was gorgeous though!
