It was a great final with some stunning routines danced by all the celebreties. After each of the couples had danced a judges choice dance and their showdance, the four couples were then reduced to three by the viewer telephone vote. It was time to say goodbye to Dani Harmer and Vincent Simone. It was the right decision as the other three couples had stepped up a gear in the final. Well done to Dani though for reaching the final. She has impressed as a dancer and Dani and Vincent looked great as a dance couple.
So the final three couples who got to dance their favourite dance of the series were:
- Denise Van Outen and James Jordan
- Kimberley Walsh and Pasha Kovalev
- Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace

Denise Van Outen and James Jordan chose the Charleston as their final dance, performing to the song Walk Like an Egyptian. They delivered a great dance and the judges all reached for their 10’s for a 40 overall.
Len: I will never forget your Charleston
Bruno: What a trooper. That was world class. Denise you have been fantastic.
Craig: I stand by what I said before. It is simply the best Charleston we’ve ever ever had on Strictly.
Darcey: I’m the same. It’s a memorable Charleston. You are a true professional.

Kimberley Walsh and Pasha Kovalev chose the Tango as their favourite dance of the series, dancing to When Doves Cry by Prince. It was another perfect score of 40.
Bruno: You femme fatal. Irresistible. Glamorous. In the last few weeks you have blossomed as a performer.
Craig: You came out here and anhiliated the dance-floor.
Darcey: You could win medals with that pout. I love it when you are moody
Len: You have improved your footwork and your hold is very good. Well done.

The final dance of the series was performed by Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace who chose the Charleston as their favourite dance, dancing to Dr Wanna Do by Caro Emerlad. The judges scored it at 39 with Craig Revill Horwood deciding to be picky and giving a 9. He got roundly booed for that. Since the judges vote has no direct impact on the result it didn’t really matter but he does love playing the baddie.
Craig: I don’t know how anyone is going to make a choice. That was fantastic. Your character is coming to the fore. Basically I loved it.
Darcey: I love you’ve added the cheeky Louis to your routine.
Len: That was a gold medal performance
Bruno: Just what the doctor ordered. A fitting tonic to finish off this incredible competition. This has been a sensational competition.
So it was down to the viewers to make the final decision and whilst the phone voting was going on the 11 eliminated contestants spoke enthusiastically about their experiences on the show. There was also a performance from Robbie Williams of his new single.
As the excitement grew, the buzz on Twitter was that Louis was edging it:
- Voted Louis. Hardest journey out of the three.* *nothing to do with THAT showdance #scd
- Close call tonight. Think it comes down to personal preference #Louis #scd
- I’m afraid I’m still #anyonebutDenise. Technically brilliant but leaves me cold. #scd
- Louis is the only contender with NO previous dance experience. Got to vote for him to win #scd
- For shame, I just voted another 10 times for @KimberleyJWalsh and @PashaKovalev. 20 in total. You best win this! #scd
Now we know the answer to the question asked for the last twelve weeks: Who will win Strictly Come Dancing 2012?
