Sid Owen became the third celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing after he and partner Ola Jordan lost the dance-off with Colin Salmon and Kristina Rihanoff. Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli voted to keep Colin and Kristina in the competition so Sid Owen faced his “final dance” with Ola. Len Goodman said he would have saved Sid as Colin had made a big mistake in the routine. So it was lucky for Colin that none of the other judges agreed.
Sid had finished bottom of the leaderboard twice in the last two weeks so it was no surprise he ended up in the dance-off.
Having survived the dance-off, Colin Salmon will have to step up his training efforts if he is to stay in the competition as he is in danger of being left behind by the improvements of other celebrities. The same goes for Fern Britton and Richard Arnold who seem certain to feature in the bottom two in coming weeks unless their dancing changes dramatically.
At the top, Louis Smith has really demonstrated his potential and is a major contender for the Glitterball trophy. Others in with a genuine chance include Denise Van Outen, Kimberley Walsh and Dani Harmer.
Michael Vaughan had an excellent week with a fantastic improvement to score 31 with the judges after a measly 19 last week. However, it remains to be seen whether he has the musicality to take things all the way. He may have to rely on his magic tricks to get all four judges to give him the perfect 10 score that he will need to win this competition.
