Vanessa is a Londoner, born in Islington. She graduated from Trinity College Cambridge with a first class honours degree in English and then made a move into journalism as a temp writer at The Daily Mirror. As well as writing a sex advice column for Men Only she presented a radio show on BBC GLR. In 1996 she became the On The Bed Interviewer on Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast and then had her own chat show Vanessa. She subsequently moved to the BBC.
She was a contestant on the first series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2001. Vanessa has a track record of supporting worthy causes, securing £150,000 for a cancer charity on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and £10,000 for Cancer Care on the BBC’s game show Hole in the Wall.
Vanessa has continued to present topical chat shows on TV and radio and and has been dubbed ‘the hardest working woman in broadcasting’ as a result of her radio shows on both Radio 2 and BBC London 94.9.
She has two daughters from a former marriage and she now lives in London with partner Ben Ofoedu.
