Teddy weighs 38 kilos and is all muscle. His pulling power is amazing. Within 2 minutes of our first walk on a lead he had pulled me over twice and the third minute saw me hanging on to a lamppost wondering what the hell to do. Should I go on or retreat home for safety. A lady walked by with a small dog and he lunged at her. She screamed at me and I wont repeat what she said. OMG! Teddy had probably never been on a lead before and he was keen to explore the world with or without me! Living on a busy road I was frightened that we would both get run over as he lunged at every car and lorry rushing by. I took a deep breath and managed to get back home with him still on the end of the lead. I decided to put him in my car and go to the local beauty spot where there were no roads. When we arrived as I opened the car door he leapt out over me and was off lead flying in his wake. Don’t panic was my mantra as I hunted him down. After 10 minutes I came across a kind dog walker who had managed to get hold of his lead as he had lunged at his dog. He had heard my pathetic calls and realised what had happened. I decided to give up and when I got him back into the car breathed a huge sigh of relief we were both still alive.
I needed help and when I got home I headed for the Yelllow Pages and looked up Dog Trainers. I spoke to a lady called Evie and told her my problem. I arranged to take him to the next training session at the local village hall where she said she would have a look at Teddy and see if she could help me. I certainly need it.
